LIM TENG NGIOM

Dr Lim is the founder of Ngiom Partnership, an architectural firm. The works of the company are described by architectural critic Kenneth Frampton as “Latter day European Purism filtered through the works of OMA, that surfaces with refreshing energy and sculptured authority, within a (tropical) context”¹.

The practice has won many design awards from the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID). PAM described the principal as one of Malaysia’s most renowned architects².

In 2012 and 2014 the practice curated the Malaysia Pavilion at the 13^th and 14^th Architecture Biennale at Venice. One of the projects won in a competition, a time memorial (Countdown Clock) at the Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur is due for completion in 2016.

Ngiom Partnership was set up in 1989 and has designed a wide variety of projects including the first large-scale sustainable master plan in the Asian region in the early 1990s: the ‘Jerai International Park’, which was published in the Architectural Review in 1994. The practice’s most recent projects include the completion of Singapore Green Mark Gold-Plus rated Amarin Wickham in Kuala Lumpur and a tropical villa at Koh Samui. The practice is now designing two towers in KL.
