Following his whole-hearted endeavor to immerse himself in Razak Mansions as a resident, Leon Leong produced a series of paintings to which presents a keyhole glimpse to the lives of residents before its demolition. Or in his perspective, the demise of the Naga guardian or “Dragon” guardian, a mystical protector to the ones that call this public housing building as its home. These paintings painted on pegboards are more than just an artwork, these form a mythological icon that highlights the loss of a significant ‘deity’ of the working class and provokes the viewer to ponder on the implications and significance of social and economic change.
